In continuation of my “Short Takes” video series at All City Auto, I give a tour of a 2004 Audi A4 Ultra Sport. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

You’ve got to hand it to Peugeot, it’s persistent. Despite the decreasing popularity of large mass-market executive cars in the Nineties, the French giant still launched one in late 2000. With styling inspired by the popular 206, plus a plush, roomy interior, it had plenty of appeal. It also boasted low prices and loads of equipment. However, in a sector where image is all, the 607 failed to attract buyers. This is despite spec which, on V6 models, extends to electronic suspension and a built-in phone. Even the base 2.0-litre models have climate control. Early handling woes led to the addition of electronic driver aids, and these, along with a four-star Euro NCAP rating, ensure it’s a very safe car. And all for the price of a brand new 206! Checklist * Electrics: Problems are not unknown – so make sure all the gadgets work. Multiplex wiring means a slight operation delay if many devices are on. Column stalks are flimsy. * Engine: diesel HDi engines suffer fuel pump and clutch faults. With the latter, ensure the pedal works smoothly (without judder) and not at the extremes of its travel. * Brakes: the 607′s heaviness can lead to rapid brake wear. Check discs for scoring and grooves. Also ensure the brake pad wear warning light goes on and off at start-up. * Mobile phones: post-Sept 2003 models include Bluetooth wiring for hands-free mobile use through the stereo speakers. V6 models have a built-in phone, but check the paperwork to avoid unexpected bills. * Bootlid: many …
Needed to check ABS fault in 1997 VW. Worked exactly as described. Found faulty RF wheel speed sensor and ordered new one from AutohausAZ. Well worth the investment.

I have a 2001 VW Cabrio that used to be my mother’s. The Check Engine light used to cause her concern. She’d get it checked and they’d tell her, “Don’t worry about it.” I’ve had the car for a year and the Check Engine light has come on a couple of times for me. In contrast, the Check Engine light has NEVER come on on my ’98 4Runner that we purchased new.

Rather than run to Auto Zone or Pep Boys every time the light comes on, I purchased this hand-held.

I found it rather easy to use and best of all, I can check it myself, log the results and reset the light. Well worth the cost; I’d recommend.

Took my 1998 VW beetle to the garage, they charged me to read the code then another 0 to do some repair work. Two weeks later the engine light came back on. This little reader and an internet search showed that the code is intermittent on these cars. Clearing it got it through the CA smog check and it hasn’t come back on since.

Also, the CA smog check caused the ABS light to come on (front wheels rolling, back wheels not) and the reader was able to identify that and clear the code for me turning the light off (and that one hasn’t come back either).

Simple to use, works well.

This engine is both diecast and some plastic construction, and it is highly from the paint scheme ro the timing cover housing the overhead cams. Plenty of chrome and take your time assembling this kit and you will have a real piece of mechanical art work. Turn the fly wheel and the fan, alternator and all turns. one of the must get kits…Engineman

I have been a shop floor Quality Control Inspector for nearly thirty years, and I can tell you from a Quality standpoint this model kit is absolutely top notch. There is almost NO flash on the pieces, and having been a modeler for years it is very refreshing to see the quality of the molded parts in this kit. It comes very carefully packaged with the bottom end partially assembled. Naturally there are no internal workings, but the external detail is totally unsurpassed. Absolute attention to even the finest details. You actually have to build the carburetors, assemble the primary and secondary bowls, the baseplate, the external vacuum secondary (looks like a pair of 750 double pumpers w/ vac secondary linkage, factory only). You can even see the venturi in the carbs! Unbelievable!! And you have to assemble the carb linkage just like the real thing! The air filter housing and the oil filter are also unbelievably detailed.

What a fun project this was, and I am *TOTALLY* satisfied way down in that warm fuzzy spot that breathes fire and remembers the sound of thunder from those open headers on a Ford big block.
