Ford Focus review – CarBuyer

February 13th, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

Full review: www.carbuyer.co.uk You’ll like the fact that this is one of the best small family cars to drive, and offers a range of powerful diesels. Even though the firm suspension and sporty ride is not to as comfortable as some rivals, a January 2008 facelift has improved looks and means interior quality is a close match for upmarket alternatives like the VW Golf. ECOnetic editions offer great fuel economy, while high performance ST editions are fun to drive. Both three and five-door models are spacious, but the latter is the better family choice. The focus is a sportier car than any vauxhalls, the rear suspension gives that away, to get the sort of stiff yet smooth ride you get from a focus in an Astra you’d have to go for the VXR, and you wont get much in the way of comfort from that when your torque steering through hedges.

I just wish Ford would do an ST TDCi, because I want the sportyness but the insurance and fuel on an ST is shocking, so i ended up getting the 2.0TDCi, they should have fitted the 2.2 from the mondeo

I don’t want to be rude, but how tall is this guy? He looks rather short. Which kinda defeats purpose of showcasing the rear seats space. How tall are you man?

Why oh why didn’t the put in a driver foot rest? Seriously not even the XR5 Focus has the foot rest, how cheap can you get Ford!

@jesusescandon I see what you’re saying. But also remember its all marketing. But some cars do have legitimately sporty intentions. No they aren’t out right sports cars in the true sense but they handle well. Its for people who want practicality but also some fun to drive. So you can blend the two. These days car makers are blending everything so the lines are blurred. So there are posers and then legit sporty to sports cars.

@ss2k11 I think its obviously put there for the review to show case the cargo capabilities of the car. So they put it there, then film it. Also they are bring along a camera crew so I assume they make good use of the car a as well.

i drive a focus and its so much fun, everybody says its the best handling car.
But while you pay 20% for suspension in renault, citroen etc. and 80% for ride quality, exuipment etc.
in focus 1/3 of money goes for suspension, control blade multilink and great steering and chassis which is AMAZING!!!

@jesusescandon But don’t you want to have fun while driving…
I mean this car is safe and practical, isn’t it better if it’s fun too?

@brownbridges Not in fact I like cars in general and dont know no one that buy a Focus thinking that is a sport car. Thats why Ford put the car in the segment of family cars.

Seriously this guy constantly has random stuff tucked away if in the glove box etc. If you watch some of his other video’s aswell you’ll see what I mean.

I don’t know what you mean the better family choice, when you only like the sport feeling, but sport and focus are not in the same level, sport and Porsche, sport and 350z any of house you can say sport, a family car is not a sport car, so for those that want a sport drive feeling please don’t buy a Ford Focus, and for those that want a family car, search for safety. I don’t know any parent that want his family fell how fast the car can go. So don’t mix sport and family complete different things
