Audi e-tron mark II

Following on from its wow factor appeal at the Frankfurt motor show last September, the next model e-tron from Audi was unveiled at the 2010 Detroit auto show (NAIAS) and is aptly called the Detroit show Audi e-tron, or e-tron Mark II. It is more compact than its predecessor with a much shorter wheelbase and gross weight has been cut to 1350 kg. Two electric motors with a combined output of 150 kW (204 hp) and 2650 Nm (1954.54 lb-ft) accelerate the coupe with ASF-design aluminum body from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.

Audi plans to actually produce an electric car in the next two years. Why does everybody care about top speed? when can you even go faster? The Tesla Roadster does not even get to its top speed in a quarter mile dragrace. I wish it had more acceleration though. Zero to sixty in six seconds is not what the looks of this car promise. Still, I can’t wait to see the production version.

if you ask me, i think this is the first concept car that is going into the market. You look at the BMW concepts ans they dont seem possible for the real world.

@god4488 Tanks and trucks may not be able to run on oil but they are more than capable of running on biodiesel(existing technology) or even better pure vegetable technology(existing technology). I and thousands of other people run their vehicles on pure vegetable oil. Look it up.

@god4488 Planes will need oil and there aren’t many alternatives yet althow Airbus has concepts on paper with a hydrogin plane, but tanks?the Abrams is running with gasturbine and the Leopard 2 runs with diesel, witch could as well be replaced with Biofuel. Electric engines aren’t the problem the problem is the batteries, it would be possible to have electric cars with a range of 300km but the cost for the batery cells would be astronomical… currently the biggest problem for electric vehicles.

@putadelsol well, first off all there are still enough things who need oil and still a lot of things the electric engine at the moment can’t replace. Even not in close future. And you can be sure that this will push the electricity prizes while the oil may goes down. However, Tanks, Planes… etc they all need oil. what eva.
