I can’t say enough positive things about this device. If you own a modern Volkswagen or Audi, many of the codes and engine diagnostic data packets can only be read by a device such as this, or through a system called VAG COM. A VAG COM reader would produce far more detailed information, but is more expensive than this device. This is an excellent alternative for those like me who feel comfortable doing minor maintenance and repair on their car, but feel most comfortable taking more difficult repairs to the dealer or mechanic.

As many dealerships, such as the ones near by me, CHARGE a diagnostic fee just to read codes, this can save you money in the long run. In my particular case I as able to determine that I had a bad battery, figure out which chambers were misfiring and replace the coilpacks on them, and read the upper and lower range of voltage on an oxygen sensor that appeared to be defective.

Build quality is good, and using the device is very simple. It also comes with a decent tote bag. The device can be updated through use of a USB cable, but I haven’t had the need to attempt this yet.

Porsche 911 tries to escape the police

August 30th, 2010 25 comments

Subtitles added to the video! They’re not perfect but should be sufficient for the story. Background info: A 42-year old man from Purmerend, the Netherlands is caught after a bizarre chase. The man driving a Porsche 911 GT3 drove at speeds exceeding 200 km/h (125 mph) on the A7. The police gave him the stop sign from an undercover surveillance car. The Porsche, ignoring this, took a last second exit and went off. While entering the high way again, the driver lost control in the corner of the entranceway hitting the safety rails, losing several parts from his car, nonetheless he tried to escape again. While being chased he took the road verge desperate to escape. Entering a parking space next to the highway and steps over to a Volkswagen Golf, driven by his 33-year old girlfriend. A 29-year old man which was the passenger at the Porsche took over the wheel from the Porsche and tries to get away. As seen in the video, while this was happening the police is taking a safe distance, observing until backup has arrived. The Golf drives away like nothing happened but the police knew he was in that car. They create a road block to hold up the traffic so they can arrest the former Porsche driver, the passenger now driving the Porsche also gets arrested. In the Golf happens to be a baby and in the baby-seat they discovered a firearm. In the clothing of the baby hard drugs were found. Both man are still in custody. 13 feb 2007 SBS6 Wegmisbruikers

I soldered 11 leads from my new hu to this connector, connected to truck’s harness and powered up. Simple and quick install.

Purchased for use in my 2000 Mercury Villager. Made it so much easier to install after market stereo. Having done it the hard way in the past, this was wonderful! Highly recommend!

I picked this harness up for an installation on a 2003 Ford F-150. It was easy to install but the instructions do have the “dimmer” wire labeled as Orange/White when it was Orange/Black on this harness. Most people will not use that wire anyway; the orange wire in the harness labeled “illumination” is the one most people will use. For most aftermarket stereos it’s just a matter of matching the wires on this harness to the same color wires on your stereo’s harness. It can’t get much easier than that…

The Good:

Easy to install

Good quality

Price

The Bad:

One mislabeled wire in the instructions
